Cherry Bridge Station Early Learning Centres – Our Childcare Policies

At Cherry Bridge Station we develop our services and policies with careful reference and consideration to the National Quality Standard (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). In addition, our operational requirements strictly adhere to the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

Unfortunately 1 in 3 of nearly 4,000 other centres inspected in NSW have failed to meet the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) standards, even though these were imposed over 4 years ago.

Our childcare centres base their main practices on the guidelines set out by certified government resources and information from specialist regulatory bodies, maintaining trust and transparency with our families at all times.

For all aspects of hygiene and health practices within our services, we use the most current edition of Staying Healthy in Childcare. This is the NHMRC’s comprehensive resource for preventing the spread of germs and infection in the early childhood care environment.

At CBS we also concentrate on many other aspects in the healthy development of our little learners. We believe that good nutrition and healthy eating habits are too often dismissed as non-essential elements to the policies of a childcare service. With this in mind our experienced cooks hold qualifications in Nutrition and Menu Planning, and Safe Food Handling.

Allergies are regarded as a top priority and every member of staff is trained in anaphylaxis. Special needs and dietary requirements are also carefully recorded and managed appropriately. Regulating bodies for nutrition include Nutrition Australia and Healthy Kids; an initiative of the NSW Ministry of Health, NSW Department of Education, Office of Sport and the Heart Foundation.

With so many of our happy little ones attending centres for long day-care, we also operate a very comprehensive sleep safety initiative with advice for parents and extensive staff awareness training. Much of our sleep safety information and support comes from the well-respected national not-for-profit organisation SIDS and Kids, who are dedicated to saving babies and children’s lives through the elimination of sudden and unexpected infant deaths.

With the unfaltering support and regulation from these esteemed organisations and government bodies, we can operate our early learning and childcare centres with full confidence in our ability to deliver the quality of care that our families expect, and very rightly deserve.
